Merrie Monarch 2012

It’s that time again, Merrie Monarch 2012 is this week! It will be broadcast on KFVE, live from Hilo!

  • Wednesday 7:30-9:00pm – Backstage coverage
  • Thursday 6:00-11:30pm – Miss Aloha Hula competition
  • Friday 6:00-11:30pm – Hula Kahiko: Halau
  • Saturday 6:00-11:30pm – Hula ‘Auana: Halau

Be sure to tune in to check out all the Mountain Apple artists that will be there!

Robert Cazimero will be performing at the Merrie Monarch with the following halau:

Robert will be accompanied by Keala Chock (guitar), Kala’i Ontai (guitar), Manu Boyd (ukulele), and Mark Yim (bass).


Lihau Hannahs Paik of Kupaoa will be dancing at the Merrie Monarch with Halau Hula Ka Lehua Tuahine (Kumu: Hiwa Vaughan-Darval). The men will be the fourth performance of the night, and Lihau and the rest of the ladies will by ninth!

Hi’ikua performed at the Road Runner Music Hall on KSSK last week! Here’s some clips of their performances, and a little background on the band!  They talked about what they strive for in their music, and what they do when they’re not playing music!

If you’re looking for dinner plans this Christmas Sunday, Hi’ikua will be performing at Kani Ka Pila Grille in Waikiki from 6pm to 9pm!  Definitely a perfect way to spend your holiday!

Perfect way to spend the holidays! Here’s a video of Hi’ikua from Kani Ka Pila Grille performing some of their original songs from their debut album, Aia I Hi’ialo! They perform everything from originals to classics, and even do requests!
